Privacy Policy
SummarizeTube is built to need as little of your data as possible. This policy explains what we process, why, and the choices you have.
What we process
- Video links: the YouTube URL you paste is sent to our backend to fetch the transcript and generate a summary. We do not store the links after processing.
- Transcripts & summaries: used to produce your result and not retained longer than needed to serve the request.
- Anonymous usage: guest free usage is counted per device cookie and IP (1 trial); registered free usage is counted per account (10 summaries a month).
Cookies
We use a small number of cookies: a session cookie (once you sign in with a magic link) that keeps you logged in, and an anonymous identifier cookie that lets the free tier remember your remaining daily summaries on your device. These are functional cookies, not advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. You can clear them in your browser at any time; doing so simply signs you out or resets the local free counter.
How long we keep data
- Video links and generated summaries: not retained after the request is served.
- Subscription status (plan, period end, credit balance): kept only while your plan is active and for the minimum period needed to operate billing, then removed after cancellation.
- Anonymous IP-based usage counters: reset on a rolling daily basis.
Third-party services
- YouTube: we retrieve publicly available captions/metadata for the video you specify. We do not download or redistribute video files.
- DeepSeek: our summarization model provider. Transcript text is sent to DeepSeek to generate the summary and is handled under their processing terms.
- PayPal: our payment processor for paid plans. They process your card details and issue receipts; we never see or store your card number.
- Resend: used to deliver your magic-link sign-in email. We store only the email address you provide for sign-in.
Your rights & data deletion
To delete your account and associated data (email, subscription status, credit balance), email support@summarizetube.com with the subject "Delete my account." We will remove the associated records within 30 days. Because we do not retain video links or summaries, there is nothing further to delete for one-off free summaries.
Subscriptions
If you upgrade to Pro, payments are handled by PayPal (our payment processor). We store only the subscription status needed to unlock paid features; we never see your card details.
