Frequently asked questions
Is SummarizeTube free?
Yes. Any guest can summarize 1 video for free with no account or email, counted per device and IP. Create a free account and you get 10 free summaries a month, captioned or not, on videos up to 30 minutes.
Do I need to create an account?
Only after your first free summary. Guests can try the tool once with no sign-up. The next time you summarize, we ask you to create a free account (email + password) so your 10 monthly summaries are tied to your account, not your device or IP. Upgrading to Pro or buying credits uses that same account.
How is the free limit counted?
Your first summary is a guest trial counted per device and IP address. After you sign in, your 10 free summaries a month are counted per account and reset on the 1st of each month. On shared networks the guest trial may already be used by someone else on the same IP, so you'll be asked to sign in sooner.
What does Pro include?
Pro is $9.9 per month and includes 10,000 credits every month, longer videos, export to PDF and Markdown, and Developer API access. See the full comparison.
Do the $9.9 credit packs expire?
Credits are a one-time purchase — $9.9 for 10,000 credits. They never expire and stack on top of any plan. Beyond your free monthly allowance, each summary costs 5 credits for videos up to 30 minutes, or 10 credits for longer ones. This credit pack suits people who need the product from time to time.
Can I summarize videos without captions?
Captioned videos work today. For videos with no captions at all, SummarizeTube can transcribe the audio first and then summarize it — this fallback is active whenever a transcription provider is configured on the server. If it isn't configured, you'll see a clear message rather than a fake promise.
What does "grounded in real captions" mean?
It means every bullet in the summary is traced back to the video's actual transcript. We constrain the AI to use only what the captions say, and every timestamp links directly to that moment on YouTube so you can verify it yourself.
Do you store my YouTube links or summaries?
No. Video links and generated summaries are processed and returned to you; they are not retained on our servers after the request completes. See our Privacy Policy for details.
Can I get a refund or cancel?
You can cancel anytime from the link in your PayPal receipt or by emailing us. Because Pro unlocks the full service immediately, we generally do not refund partial periods, but we will review erroneous charges within 14 days.
Is there an annual plan?
Yes. Pro annual is $99/year — two months free compared with paying monthly, with the same 10,000 credits every month.
Do you offer free daily credits?
Yes. Logged-in users can check in once per day (UTC) to receive 100 free credits. It's one claim per day and the credits don't roll over, so claim them daily. These check-in credits are for using the tool and are separate from any Pro plan or credit pack you buy.
